Trailhead Directions: This route begins and ends at the Discovery Center, which is located just north of downtown Manitowish Waters on Highway W.

This route begins on the paved bike path that leaves from the Discovery Center, goes over the Rest Lake Dam, passes through downtown Manitowish Waters, and crosses Highway 51.  Powell Road has light traffic and no shoulder, as does Alder Lake Road.  About three miles down Alder Lake Road are a series of cranberry marshes, which can be visited by a side trip up Cranberry Boulevard.  About a mile past Cranberry Boulevard, there is a cranberry gift shop that offers self-guided marsh tours.  Alder Lake Road crosses the Manitowish Chain of Lakes between Wild Rice and Alder Lakes, and shortly thereafter changes in name to become Townline Road.

Follow Bakken Road/Old 51 Road to cross Highway 51 and connect with Highway H, which has light traffic, no shoulder, and another cranberry marsh view. There is a rest stop at the intersection of Highways H and K, along the Manitowish River just west of Boulder Junction.  This is the put-in point for the Mid-Eastern Manitowish River paddle. Past the intersection with Highway H, Highway K features small rolling hills until it intersects Highway P.  From here, the paved bike path will take you alongside Highways K and W, back to the Discovery Center.
