The Powell Road Trailhead is located 6.7 miles southwest of Highway 51 on Powell Road.

The Highway 47 Trailhead is located 1.2 miles south of the Powell Road/Highway 47 intersection.

The Powell Trails make their way though recently-logged mixed hardwood forests, with varied terrain and some elevation.  Some sections of the red trail may be quite wet in the summer. Two bodies of water can be seen from the Powell Trails - Spring Pond and Sherman Lake. Spring Pond is closer to the trailhead and can be seen from the red, blue, and yellow trails.  Sherman Lake can be accessed via a small boat landing along the red trail.  Despite their close proximity to Powell Marsh, there are no marsh views along these trails.  Drive Northeast on Powell Road to reach the marsh vistas and access roads.
